PFT Frustration

Ok, I just got back from the doctor. I haven't been to the clinic in 2 years. So here's the deal - 2 years ago, my FEV was 66 and my FEV1 was 59. Today, my FEV was 79 and FEV1 was 56. I was pretty excited that my FEV went up so much. But the doc didn't say anything about it, only that my FEV1 was consistently dropping. But isn't having such an increase in at least one area of the PFT a good thing? He didn't think so. But I mean, come on! Does anyone else think it's weird that there's such a big difference in the 2 numbers? I'm just frustrated with doctors and I now recall why I haven't gone in 2 years. Whatever, I just needed to vent. Double whatever, I'm celebrating my 13% increase anyways. I don't care if it's important or not!

That's great news that your FEVC I think it is is up! Congrats! At the same time - I pay more attention to my FEV1. That is the more important number of the two. My FEV1 two years ago was 82% and my FEVC was I think in the high 90's. I'm going for pfts on thursday, so hopefully my FEV1 will be up.

Those are great numbers, you should be proud. And don't worry too much about the numbers it's really how you feel overall that's important. My pft's are like 17% but I feel pretty good so you gotta kinda be like eh my numbers stink but I feel good and that's great.

Sometimes you just want to tell your doctor to stick it. Some doctors have no since of humor or their just boring and they tell you bad news the same way they tell you good news. I don't maybe It's because they see so many patients who knows but I miss my doctors in Atlanta. They were always encouraging when I had good visits and helpful when I had bad ones.

My doctor is pretty good about taking all the symptoms into account. My weight loss is the big indicator more than anything. My PFT's are obviously important, but for example.....right now she isnt too worried about them as long as I feel ok. If I start feeling closed down again then she will worry! Eventually she wants me back up, but that goes for the whole package!
