PFT's going down while in hospital

Admitted late afternoon on 01/28 and have had 2 pft's since then that were both lower than the test before it.

Has anyone else had this happen? Did anything new turn up as the culprit or any treatment change that stopped the slide? First time this has happened, and just a little frustrated.

I am no expert..but it stands to reason they could still fluctuate especially if you are not seeing a change for the better in how you feel.

I hope you find some answers, get better and get out.

I usually dont see an improvement till a week or two after discharge..

Did your drs. discuss it with you ? Maybe they need to switch things up and/or add or discontinue one of your meds.

Take care & keep us posted <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni

My daughter's PFT's didn't come up any untill the last (3rd) week she was there. But she did them every M,W,& F. Her's aren't bad anyway, but she was getting about 97 - 99 until the last 4 times. Before her hospital stay, her best was 108. Her last 4 PFT's were 108, 112, 116, and then 121! Stay positive and give it time. Hopefully they will come up soon. I'm just wondering why you've only done PFT's twice since 1/28. Is this the norm for everyone else??
