I went on IV antibiotics a week and half ago. I met my goal PFT in two days of being in the hospital so I was sent home to finish home iv's. I went to follow up @ doc. appointment and PFT's went down. Like even dropped more. Doc. found weezing so kept me on same antibiotics Tazcif and Tobramicin and introduced me to predisone. I feel clear in the lungs. But like I think I can tell a "brewing" starting. I'm starting to clear my throat before I speak and the hard to describe feeling of tiredness and heaviness in lung???? You know that feeling??? It will be really interesting to see what my PFTS are this Wed. a week later from when they went down and to see if this predisone stuff is working. I can take deep breathes in and I feel clear. It's not like I'm coughing up anything at all. Although, I am not currently on tobi neb or hypotonic solution. Anyone start to go uphill with IV antibiotics and then start to go down hill subtly?

funnily enough i have just come out of the hopsital after again having ivs.I went in at fev1 69 then a bad infection dropped my lung function fev1 56,then on the last day of ivs after around 10 days on them my lung fucntion had gone up to fev1 70.I have a follow up appointement soon, however with regards to your question i have heard stories that ivs temporarily increase ya lung function ,but then soon as your off them the lung function drops down again(so it isnt just you)

I have had ups and downs. Before, during and after IVs. The drs. always tell me not to get to wrapped up in the #'s but i can't help it.. I also have been having a lot of wheezing. I had an asthmatic flare up. Was put on IV pred. then oral pred. for awhile.
It seemed to help, but i am still having wheezing every so often. I think the HTS is what is causing it. I really don't want to stop it though cause it is the one med that really gets the junk out.
Hope your #'s go up and stay there. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni
