PGD and Insurance

Miesl,
Just wondering if you have found any information. I am considering PGD in the future and would like to get more information. I found out while I was pregnant with my daughter that my husband and I are both carriers for CF. While my daughter was born without CF, I am scared to risk getting pregnant again, but I really want to add to our family. Please share any info!
Thanks,
Carla

I'm with you. The prices are making me ill, too. Then I hear that it is not a guarantee that the child won't have CF. On this site I have heard of two situations where they went through PGD, had twins due to the IVF and one of the twins had CF. I can't imagine have twins and a toddler with two of the three having CF! I have scheduled an appointment for me and my husband to speak with a clinic regarding the whole process. My husband wants to just go about this naturally. However, I just can't imagine the first 4 months of pregnancy not knowing if the baby had CF. I don't do well with the unknown.

I am rambling here and totally didn't give you any answer to your question. It is just that we are going through this decision process of how do we go about having a second child...or do we...and it is weighing on me.

Thank you for for "listening"

I completely understand what you are going through. I am sick to my stomach thinking about it and wondering what to do. My husband & I haven't really talked about it much b/c it brings up such a painful time for us, even though the outcome was wonderful and we have truly truly been BLESSED. I really don't know what to do.

I am going through PGD now and the majority of it is not covered by insurance. However, we are trying to ge the biopsy portion covered (it is a long story, but in the end I think we will). We struggled for a long time about whether to do it or not, and in the end I think there is no right or wrong answer. We decided to do it for some piece of mind, but it is not 100%.
Please let me know if you have any questions
