My weight is fine, in fact I am too heavy for my tiny frame. Still, I feel so run-down and Amelia is only nursing 2-3 times a night now. I get plenty of hours of sleep. I am almost exclusively breastfeeding and I'm wondering if breastfeeding puts stress on the body which then results in exacerbations. I am noticing more yellow mucus which is bad since I only culture for staph and my doc will not treat it. My doctor warned me that breastfeeding might put too much stress on my body but I didn't believe it. Lately I'm not so sure.

I'm not going to refute that I think nursing does take an added toll on the body, after all, you are feeding another human being! But I think Christan mentioned that her LC said that in all actuality we're only in need of like an added glass of whole milk a day or something like that to replenish what nursing takes out of us - so I wonder just how much parenting in general simply takes a toll on the body??

It's true Shannon, parenting is work and it's hard to say how much more energy I'd have if I stopped breastfeeding. I've always had 2 or 3 days a month when I feel very low energy and kind of sick. Breastfeeding is easier than making bottles. DH thinks Amelia would be very upset if I weaned her since she loves breastfeeding.

I do like the idea of deep freezing EBM so that I can slowly move her towards only nursing before bed and first thing in the morning.
