You might want to look into getting an eFlow.

Particles emitted by the eFlow are in a more respirable dose range, and therefore are less likely to stick to your vocal chords.

I've noticed a huge difference with my eFlow. I used to get hoarse every month on inhaled abx - not any more. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Very cool!

I've been sick a few times where I lost my voice for about a month or so. and it wasnt CF sick. It was a stupid upper respiratory infection iirc. I was scared I thought I'd never get it back. I cough real hard and I think that was part of it along with the medications I was taking at the time. Hang in there it will be back!

The last 4 years or so or maybe a little longer before my transplant I would loose my voice in cycles. It was strange and we never knew what caused it. It wouldn't be gone for weeks but for about 5 days at a time. Sometimes I could speak but I would mostly whisper. And have the voice that when I would call a friend they would say I could easily work for that sort of special 'phone company' haha.

I never had it again post transplant. Am still nebbing and have my puffs. But don't neb Pulmozyme, Colimycine and HS anymore. I think I could contribute my loss of voice to either Pulmozyme or Colimycine. Though I nebbed that for a long time before my loss of voice even started.

I just got over an episode of this. Three oral abx didn't help so I'm on IVs now. The more talking I did the worse it felt. Try to rest your voice and this sounds like a no-brainer... but gargling warm salt water did seem to help. My throat still hurts but my voice is mostly back.
