My boss (who's still at work) has had a really bad cold for the last month and has now been diagnosed as having pleurisy (not sure how you spell it). I just wondered if its catching???

Pleurisy itself it not contagious. However, it is normally caused by an infection such as pneumonia or TB, but not always.

So the underlying infection your boss has probably already exposed you to is likely a problem, but not necessarily the pleurisy itself.

Tom is right. Pleurisy is really some kind of 'irritation' of the pleura. Usually caused by a bacterial or viral infection. So, while you can't really catch pleurisy, you can ofcourse catch the infection.

Wasn't quite sure what it was. She's had a nasty cold and chest infection from about November but still been at work as we're really busy. Thankfully i've avoided catching anything so fingers crossed it'll stay that way.
