Pluerisy

Pluerisy CAN be caused by an infection but not in my case. I had a chest xray and a CT scan of my chest and nothing showed up. Fluid from an infection would have, if not on the x-ray than on the CT. I have no other signs of an infection either, no fever, chills, aches, no abnormal coughing or sputum production.

Oooh Jesse! I am so sorry you have such pain....I have had pleurisy at least 3 times that I remember. It is no picnic. I forgot what you said you were on in your last post...was it Ibuprofen? I was put on Toradol when I had it the first few times, same class of meds (NSAIDS). What helped me were really hot showers with the water hitting the side that hurt the most. My pleurisy wasn't bacterial, it was viral, didn't show up on the xrays either. I got pleurisy about a year ago (that time I was on a combo of Ibuprofen and percocet for uncontrollable pain), I couldn't splint my breathing, my vent put the whole volume in my lungs...hurt like HELL with every breath. (Most people breathe more shallow when they have sharp chest pain, can't do that with a vent)

I agree with Jenn, please call your doc to see if he or she can offer more advice as to how to control your pain better...you should not have to suffer! Hopefully, the Ibuprofen will make the inflammation go away and you get relief soon. For me, it took a few days before I felt the sharpness start to ebb away.

Hugs to you as well as good thoughts- Jenn <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

I wrote on your blog one day that trying Emotional Freedom Technique will help.

It can help with many emotional issues, addictions and pain.

i would try this if you can.

This man explains it well.

He mentions chocolate but if you have the pain

You can say, Even though I have this pain and it hurts, I deeply and completlely accept myself. After you finish the entire set up, repeat until the pain subsides.

This technique is very popular and many therapists are teaching this to their patients.

Of course nothing works instantly so be patient. I hope this can help you or at least make you feel a little bit better.

I just finished watching above video and I cannot find the second part that teaches you how to do the technique.

Here is another one that shows the points. Just try it and apply it to your pain

RIsa... I am so confused.. What are you talking about and how it it related to her pain? If someone told me to look in the mirror and give myself self affirmation while I was in pain I think I would cry......but I am not sure that is what you are saying to do...

What did I miss?

explains this entire video. It will take a while to learn it all. I found these videos and thought if you watched them you can figure it all out.

While taping on all the points you repeat an affirmation.

Even though I have this terrible pain (say location), I deeply and completely love and accept myself. You keep on saying something similar to this statement and keep taping on all specific acupressure points until you complete the basic recipe.

It does not matter whatever the problem is, you can help yourself by Tapping on the specific points that is show in the video (if you watched them all you will learn them all) by repeating a statement and of course change the set up phrase as needed.

It is best to buy the DVD's to learn them properly There are many books available. It is also very helpful to find a therapist or nurse who knows how to teach this properly.

I am just trying to help. Perhaps this will help someone and they will take it upon themselves to learn it well and help themselves.
