I have had the same thing happen to me with coughing up a mucus plug. My doctor told me that's not uncommon for there to be blood when you cough a plug. I always rejoyce when I cough a mucus plug up. That's really good you coughed it up. I've sometimes been sick where I wasn't coughing up the stuff in my lungs and ended up with several plugs.
