Poll for Jan 31 Vests

The beauty of the poll is we CAN do a poll to see which versions are popular...is it only Hill-Rom that has different versions?

What are the names of some other vest companies?

Thanks,

Jeanne

Interesting poll. Next week we will be in the unusual situation of having both a Hill-rom and Respirtech system. We currently have the hill - rom 105 for our 3 year old, but next Tuesday will be getting a Respirtech for our 1 year old. We got the hill-rom before switching clinics and our new doctor (Milla) recommended the Respirtech based on the latest research. I wonder if we will be able to switch our older daughter to a Respirtech if we like it better....it will probably be an insurance issue.

When we asked about getting a vest for our younger daughter, our RT said that usually the insurance companies will only pay for ONE compressor, but two vests if there is more than one child in the family. This means that the two children would not be able to use the vests at the same time. I understand that they are very expensive pieces of equipment, but how can that be acceptable? They are two separate people, just because they live in the same house doesn't mean they should have to share medical equipment. Both should be entitled to the same insurance benefits. Luckily, our primary insurance changed recently, so it looks like they will cover Isabella's machine since our old insurance (which is now our secondary) covered Taylor's.

I know there is much discussion here about the differences in the vests so I will post our likes/dislikes of each in a few weeks. I already know of one minor downside to the Respirtech. At this time, it does not come with the handy rolling dufflebag, like the Hill-rom. They are working on one, but it is not available yet. We travel out of town frequently to visit family and the carrying case is very handy!

Julie,

I grew up with myself and my brother having CF. It took me going to college to get a second nebulizer compressor! I don't know why I didn't ask sooner, but what's the deal with insurance companies trying to save there? I've been there! We didn't have the vests back then, but we had our Devilbiss compressor from 1982 to 1994! The same compressor for both of us all those years. LOL! Incredible.
