I have my port in the upper left arm since about one year now. I´m doing IVs ever since and its running through without problems.
But 4 weeks ago, when I pulled out the needle i noticed some enlarged veins in the area. They did an ultrasound and there was a thrombosis around the katheter, but not in the port.
So I stayed in hospital for one week, getting an 24-hour-infusion with heparine and luckily it worked and the thrombosis went away. Now I do have to give me one heparin-injection a day for some time...
