Ports in women...

I was very concerned about how much my port would stick out as well. I talked to my doctor in detail about my concerns and he and I were able to talk to the surgeon about my port placement. They were able to place my port in the side of my breast. I was very lucky that I had an understanding surgeon. I do know that alot of places will place a port lower in your chest, where your breast tissue can hide it better. The best advice I can give is to let your doctor and surgeon know your concerns and see if you can come up with a reasonable place for your port.

I just had my port put in July. If I stand naked and look in the mirror I can see it. When I put a bra on that pushes up my breast tissue you can only see the almost light pink scar about 1 1/2 inches. I have a slim port which they put in arms or in the chest of small people. I have worn tank tops several times this summer and my port is not noticable. The right Bra is important and having a little bit of a chest helps. It has become a lot less noticable in the past 2 months. I hope this helps.

I am 5'3 and at 115 you can't see it at all. When I was underweight (97lbs) you could really see it.

I had it put in in 2005 (17) and they put it lower towards my breast tissue and it really makes it hard to see. In fact noone knows I have anything unless I tell them.

They put a tiny pedi port in me.

I had one in my arm, which you could see, it was a bump sticking up.

I most recently had one in my chest and you could not see it at all (you could just see a faint scar). I am 5'5" and 130 so we are very close to the same size. I was very pleased with the placement of mine in my chest. And it wasn't noticable to my husband (I didn't want him to hate my chest b/c of a port).

I had no problems with the placement.

Maybe you could wear a wrap at the wedding if you are nervous about it showing. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
