Hi Leah,
Yes, I had (1) HSG done in July 2007. My tubes were both open and clear. They actually looked really good. I thought I was off the hook completely until the end of the month's worth of testing.
My RE still thought that scar tissue was between the ovaries and tubes. Thus, nothing would show up on a HSG anyway.
They don't want to do a lap to know for sure because of all the surgeries that I've had already. That would be the ONLY chance I would have to return normal function. I so wish there was a chance. That's why I worked so hard to finally get my hands on the post-operative report. At least it sheds some light on everything.
On a good note, my GYN appointment has been bumped up to this Friday!!!
As far as IVF, my RE was sure it would work. However, Jake is dead set against it. He believes that if things happen naturally then that's how it's meant to be. Also, he doesn't see spending $13,000 for something that isn't 100% guarenteed. I nearly pulled his teeth to get him to agree to seeing a RE. I even got him to agree to medicated IUI until the RE shot all the hope for that right out of the water...Now, he's more bitterly against it than before.
We are considering starting the adoption process next year, but we'll see. It's more like I'll believe it when I see it. We just bought our 'forever home' in November 2007, so funding adoption right now wouldn't be the best decision. Our mortgage alone went from $475 to $1100 a month. We thankfully only have $2,000 in credit card debt and wish to keep it that way. The only thing we owe on is the house and car.
Honestly, things are at a standstill. They have always seemed to be that way in the baby department. I have my new GYN appointment now this Friday so we'll see. Maybe he'll want to monitor things for a cycle or two. That's fine with me. I'll deal with the pain for more answers. Where I use to live, I had a crappy GYN clinic. However, all of them up North were that way. I didn't want to drive an hour each way to Reading to get a good one. When I didn't conceive in 1.5 years, I referred myself to the RE in Reading. I NEVER had a good GYN clinic or doctor behind me. That probably was a mistake...
