I was just wondering something. I read a topic about pred today and someone said there won't be a problem about eating again now that the child had to start pred.

I know about that side effect but my question is, does everyone have this???
Cause really i don't. Have been on pred since my tx, and yes i do eat more, but not that much more, not like i can eat all the time... Hence i'm still on my feeds for 1000 kcal a day extra cause i will loose weight otherwise.. Before my tx i was steady 42.5 kg and now i'm about 41 but when i don't do my feeds i loose weight and am on 39 kg in two weeks! Before my tx i was never hungry, have to admit i know that feeling now but don't have that every day. I still have to think about eating or otherwise i just won't..

I wish the pred would do more! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

That's always been my experience with prednisone, and the people I know who've taken it. The last time I was on it, I drove 30 minutes out of my way after work to find my favorite fast food restaurant. That's the effect prednisone had on me! I wanted Food!!! Maybe it's an absorption thing for you? I hope your appetite improves, Marjolein.

The last time I was on it, I drove 30 minutes out of my way after work to find my favorite fast food restaurant. That's the effect prednisone had on me! I wanted Food!!! Nope never has done that with me. I eat the same amount no matter how much I am on. I have gained weight when I am on higher doses but I think that is because it makes me puffy because I don't eat more. I really don't eat a ton as it is

Part of me would be stuffed from just eating, but another part would be starving like I never ate. That affect went away as my amount of Prednisone was decreased to wean me off it. I never experienced anything like it since. The closest was having the munchies after using pot.........

Oh man when i was on prednisone 3 years ago i got so fat! Well not fat, but a fat face coz it makes you retain water. I gained 10lbs in 6 days ( i remember b/c i was on a trip for high school). The first thing my dad said when i got back was, "You've gained weight" and it took me FOREVER to lose it!

My son has been on it quite a few times, but I've never noticed an appetite change. But he's only 2 so maybe it's a low dose, plus they have been short courses. And he's a picky eater anyway.

preds never made me hungry, but I have porked it on since tx due to retained water....
