I, too, have been rx'ed pred for allergies that get too severe for my allegra/advair/singulair, etc. And WOW...what a nice difference. I don't have any side effects (that I'm aware of, anyway). So, I'm on it right now--1 or 2 pills a day....and it keeps my allergies in check. I hate this time of year because of allergies.

I am also on Pred now. I am tapering down now.

It works well for me, The only draw back for me is of course
it makes me eat A lot, I am always hungry when on it , and
if I take my night dose too late I am awake all night .

I have heard a lot of Females ( my Sister too ) say that Pred
makes their face swell or makes for puffy cheeks, my swelling a cures in my ankles
then goes away as I taper off the pred.

I have taken it on and off as needed for 20 years, at least.

wow, with what dosages you've been on, I feel I'm on a very very HIGH dose, even though the doc said he'd put me on a "low" dose... i'm on 30 mg. twice daily! this will continue for 5 days and then I assume we'll taper down. Either way, is 60 mg per day a lot??

That is the dosage I was on last year. Dont recall waht it was the first time I was on it.
