Prednizone help!

I am currently home on orals trying to combat a chest cold and they have me on Prednizone (30mg for 3days, then 20mg for 3 days hten 10mg for 3 days) and everything is going well except for nights. I take my pills in the morning around 9am and I am wired at night. Feel kind of flushed and cant sleep. Literally I can go like 2 days without 3 and am so exhausted. anyone have any advice? I try to take something to make me sleep but it doesnt work. I am so wired and need help!!

Hmm.. that happens to me if I take them too late.
I always take half of my Daily Dose in the Morning
and the other half at night, But Not too late, Or I am awake all night.

My doc told me that everyone is different as far as the way Pred
Works best and affects them.

Sleep aids never work on me either.

maybe take them as you are laying in bed just about to doze off and since you'll already be asleep it wont 'wake' you? I take mine in the morning to help me but between that and the levaquin its advil PM for me every night.

Also are you eating any chocolate or drinking caffeine during the day as steroids can way ramp that effect up too?

oh and I really have good luck with celestial seasonings sleepy time tea, I have no idea why but when the advil pm doesnt work I drink a cup of that in addition.

I wanted to 2nd Nicole's idea of taking the pm dose RIGHT before going to sleep- I have a med that can give me miserable insomnia and that's the only way I can get some sleep when I'm on a higher dose of it- if the level builds up in my system before bedtime, forget it.

But, otherwise- I can empathize with you. Emily gets insomnia from prednisone too. Initially, when she's really sick nothing will keep her up; however, it starts being a problem as she gets better. But giving it to her right before bed, like I do w/ my med, helps somewhat.
