Hi, I was just reading about getting pregnant with CF. I have cf, and my boyfriend is not a carrier (he has been tested). I thought that there would be a chance that if I got pregnant that the baby would have cf, but now I'm starting to wonder, if we both have to have cf (one ill and one carrier) for the baby to have cf. Can anyone shed some ligth? What are our chances?

When I found out that I was pregnant in 2005 I had my husband tested for the gene immediately. If he was not a carrier then the baby would not have CF. Did your boyfriend have the Ambry panel done or did they just test for the most common CF genes? My husband was only tested for the most common ones and they were all negative...he doesn't carry the common genes for CF. There was still a 1/900 chance that the baby would have CF. If your boyfriend had the Ambry panel test done that tests for all genes, then there is no chance that your baby would have CF.

No matter which way it goes though, the baby would be a carrier of the CF gene because of you having CF. My son is a carrier but does not have CF. I hope this isn't too confusing and it helps!
