Pricked by a Rose Thorn

I was pricked by the thorn of one our rose bushes over the weekend as I was cleaning up around it. I didnt think much of it.

The red dot is still on my finger & is contantly filled with clear fluid. I squeeze the fluid out all day long because it gets tender when too full. I have put peroxide & alcohol on it.

It hasnt spread at all, but it doesnt seem to be getting better either.

When I googled rose thorn pricks I found the worst of the worst. Basically that it can lead to death LOL!

Most of those is when the redness has spread up the arm etc. I am taking Bactrim & Cipro still so I am assuming I am covered & maybe that is why nothing more has happened.

OR maybe its just irritated still & nothing more will happen.

Any thoughts? Its a good thing that plant produced huge & gorgious roses because I was ready to yank the darn thing out by its "neck" LOL

I was just about in two minds to tell you of the dire consequecies of thorn pricks when I seen you had found this out yourself. Of all the things you have to worry about a small prick should be way down the line.

I imagine what can kill you is the fact that it may develope into cellulitis. I am not sure about blood poisening...I would think that the antibiotics are doing the job, but you may need a different kind. I would definitely call the doctor to be on the safe side...

I'm sorry...and I will personally come up and mutilate that rose bush if anything happens to you!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

Ouch! It's amazing how the tiniest little things like paper cuts or a rose prick can cause such irritation and pain. I hope it heals quickly, and without any major problems.
