Probiotic use?

Has anyone been advised to take probiotics either for themselves or heard of it with other CF individuals? Our daughter's doctor doesn't believe they are beneficial to cystics as their digestive issues don't include irregular intestinal bacterial flora.

Alot of people on this site take probiotics.

They are very important because many of us are on antibiotics constantly. The antibiotics kill the good bacteria along with the bad. I myself always get thrush in the mouth when I have IV's. My good bacteria is gone and the fungus flourishes. To me, it makes good sense to supplement.

Hmm - now that you mention the antibiotics, I believe he stated that he didn't feel it was necessary for her at this time because she isn't taking antibiotics.

Most cystics need them due to the abx, but there is no reason to NOT take them.

Probiotics can't hurt, and even 'healthy' people take them and see benefits.

We use them for our son and it helps. Though we opted to buy a little bit better combo probiotic (multiple strands) from the local herbal shop rather than using culturell which is what normally is the Rx version.
