Thank God for ladies like Mandi (Dramamama). Probiotics are extremely important to take DAILY. If you want your child to grow up as healthy as possible, one way would be to feed your children healthier foods and take probiotics. keeping the GUT as healthy as possible= Extremely IMPORTANT!!!

</end quote></div>

I paid her to say that!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

All kidding aside, Risa is the reason I took my own health into my own hands almost four years ago. I thought she was nuts to suggest that diet could affect lung health. To believe that sugar intake was affecting my immune response was a little "out there" if you know what I mean. So I chalked Risa up as one of those "crunchy health nuts." That is until I decided to try it because I was so sick....and I became a believer. It changed my life.

Risa was about 20 years ahead of her time....she knew what the rest of us didn't have a clue about. Diet matters, food matters, everything affects our health....and sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and try something that only makes sense in theory. She changed my views which helped me change my life....

Thank you so much Mandi. I am so happy that you have researched all that you have for your own health and to help others is truly a blessing. I always read whenever you post here. I now learn from you.

What probiotic brand do you take now? In case you have already posted this, I was very interested in knowing what you think?

I just bought this yesterday at Whole foods Market from Renew life. It is the fifth item down on the list on the link above.

Ultimate Flora Critcal Care 50 Billion cultures per capsule

I am only taking one daily. I will see later on how much I need.

How many of these pills would you take Mandi?
Thank you

Thanks gals for the info. I have heard that lung health is directly related to intestinal health. I will keep Jae on the probiotics and I am so glad I bought them now. The Culturelle is quite expensive like I said for one pill a day for ten days is 8 dollars. I wonder if there is something out there that may be cheaper/better for her in the long run. Like Risa mentioned, the Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion Culture per cap. Would that be too much for a child? I guess you can never have too much "GOOD" bacteria.

I've had my son on probiotics (currently Culturelle) for 4-5 months and it has made the world of difference in his pooping regularity. He used to be constantly constipated and we would have to use Miralax daily which was a mess. I could never get the dosage of that stuff down to where he still pooped daily, but it wasn't a big slimy runny mess. Yuck! Anyhow, now that he uses the probiotics I only occassionally use the Miralax and best of all his daily poop is formed like typical poop would be. I do have a question though - he has always had really huge problems gaining weight. He is PS so they don't want to do enzymes, but once I started giving him Culturelle he has started to gain weight consistently. It has sort of been a miracle cure for his Failure to Thrive. He is actually on the growth chart now for the first time in his life (he's 8 years old)!!! His GI doc is very happy he's gaining now, but is preplexed as to why the probiotic would make him gain weight. Any ideas?</P>
