My 23 month old daughter just cultured. all i know at this point is that they are putting her on cipro and 3 months of TOBI. Someone please tell me more detailed questions that I need to ask the dr about this.

Whatever you think to ask is what you need to ask. But don't worry too much about a pseudomonas "crisis." We ALL get pseudomonas at one time or another. It's not as huge a deal as it used to be.
thanks Emily. I guess i am overly concerned with it because she has a lot of lung problems anyway. She was premature and her lungs weren't developed well and she spent some time on a ventilator, and she has quit breathing a lot and we've had to do CPR.

I know very few CFers that havent had pseudomonas &/or still do. Some have been able to erradicate it. I personally havent been able to, but honestly havent worked at it as hard as I could have over the years. Understandbly because of your daughters rough start that any infection in the lungs would make you nervous, but thats what frequent testing is all about to catch it early.
My daughter cultured it for the first time at 4 yrs old. At her hospital they need to have 3 negative cultures to come off the inhaled antibiotic and do cipro after every positive culture. She is now 5 yrs old and has had 2 negative cultures so we hope she will be off the tobramycin in December. We were also very upset when she cultured for the first time so I understand how you feel, but there is hope that you can get it under control.
