Its just i have been on it for god knows how many years and lately just feel its a waist of time! I don't feel the imediate effects like i do when i have colomicin or atrovent... Just out of curiosity if any one knows exactly what it does and how it benifits u?! cheers!

It liquidizes your thick, sticky secretions. Which in turn increases the amount you cough out and hopefully results in decreased infection. It is more prophylactic most of the time than anything else.

From what i have read, it breaks down the protein bonds in white blood cells found in mucus. Since CFers always have a bounty of mucus in their lungs it works well, at least in most individuals. It works most efficiently in a moist climate. I use to live at 5700 elevation and given that there was virtually no moisture in the air (or in my lung) Pulmozyme didn't work as well as it does now that i live at sea level (more moisture).
