My husband and I just recently found out our daughter is a carrier. Should we be tested to see if we are both carriers or not if we want more kiddos? I'm new to all of this and am doing lots of ressearch and just found this website to hopefully be of great help?
Thanks

I guess my first question is What led you to discover she is a carrier? But to answer your question -- I would think that you should get both of you tested if you want more kids. Personally I'd want to know. You need to figure if it would matter to you. I wouldn't have any more kids now that I know my husband and I are both carriers, but its a personal decision and you'll need to determine what you will do.

she had been sick off and on for 8-10 mo with the same thing and finally we put our foot down and sd we want some answers. Found out she had really bad pnuemonia, almost had to admit her. Met her new Pulmonology Dr. He's great! He did a huge series of test on her and sd she had all signs and symptoms of CF. But all test came back normal, but she tested positive for that very rare 3% of being the carrier. I am scheduled to do my blood test this friday. But wasn't sure about my husband. Reading about it makes me want to drag my husband along regardless now. Thank you so much!

I would say that if you already have yourself an appt to get checked to wait on yours to come back-if you are a carrier that yes, I would say get him tested also. Unless your insurance will completly cover for both test then I would say just to do both just to see.

I personally wouldn't try for another biological child if I knew we were both carriers because that 1 in 4 chance is to scary to me. I didn't know my 5 year old had CF when I had my second child but she doesn't have it thank the lord!!

Did they do the full Ambry on your daughter?

Good luck
