Question about donating blood

I was diagnosed w/ CF as an adult and have donated blood a few times in the past (before I knew I had CF). I asked my doctor and she said it was fine for me to donate blood, although I have not donated since my diagnosis because I've always been on too many meds/antibiotics.

I asked at one point, my doc said no because my hemoglobin was borderline and my immune system isn't quite normal and that I needed every cell, couldn't spare any. Not to mention my meds that I take...my blood probably glows in the dark at this point! I did donate blood when I was younger, before my diagnosis. I was also a late diagnosis. Of course I was much healthier then. Hugs, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I donated on my seventeenth birthday and then every six weeks like clockwork for four straight years. This was pre-diagnosis, but seems like my blood worked, because when I fell out of the habit of exactly every six weeks, they'd call and ask me to come in and give.

Great question! I've actually never been able to donate cause I wasn't over 110 lbs. requirement. However, I always THOUGHT I COULD donate if I weighed enough. Guess I was wrong. Bummer.
