Question about feeding tubes

I'm 27 and am planning on getting a gtube in the next month or so. The doctor's seem to think it will really help me. I can't eat anymore than I already am, and I'm not gaining any more weight. I really need this. Plus, I can't afford to have my pft's drop any farther, then I'll be too sick to even get a tube.

I had a feeding tube in my stomach from the ages of 8 to 16.The decision was made for me by my parents, because i was so under weight. It really helped growing up, But when i was 16 years old i decided i didnt want it anymore because i was very self concious of it. I was at that age were i was dating boys,and hated having something so permanent attached to my body. Thats when my nurse trained me to put in my own nasal tube. It took a few weeks to do it but its one of the best things i ever did, I no longer have a gtube in my stomach.but most nights i put the tube up my nose (that takes a few seconds), have my feed, then take the tube out in the morning!
When i had my gtube, i had problems with it leaking and also infections,which has left a nasty scar. Ive had an operation since i had it taken out,to make my scar less noticable,mostly for my own confidence.

Nasal tubes is definately the best option for me.

I had a feeding tube for about 5 years, and I loved it! I had so much trouble gaining weight, and my parents were always wanting me to eat more, so eating became a chore and no longer something that I enjoyed.

But, once I got my feeding tube, it was amazing! I just got fed at night, and eventually, I didn't even need it anymore. I have a pretty good scar on my stomach, but eh, that's not a huge deal to me.

And, I was able to do everything that I could do before I got the feeding tube. It didn't stop me at all.

So, for what it's worth, I loved mine, and I don't have it now, but if I were to ever need to get one again, I wouldn't hesitiate.
