Question about how you other mothers prepare your babies bottles?

Okay,

My son is 8 months old...and I should of asked a long time ago. But, I'm curious anyway how you other moms do bottles.

First off I rinse out his dirty bottles with hot water then place them in the dishwasher. I then wash his bottle nipples by hand with hot Dial antibacterial soap, and then put them in their own rack on the counter to air dry.

Then I boil a pan of tap water for 5 minutes to kill anything that could be in the water and then let it cool and then pour it into a plastic pitcher. When his bottles are all dry including parts I add 6 oz of water. Then I stack about 15 bottles that are ready to go. When he get's hungry I just add the formula....

I know it may seem like extra work...but it speeds up feedings during the day/night.

P.S
CF doctor told me I don't have to boil the bottles or use boiled water...He told me just to use the tap water...I just can't trust our tap water....

Okay, I guess I was pretty lax with DS. I started off using the dishwasher to wash the nipples and bottles, but then ended up washing by hand, scrubbing with a bottle brush, which I would put on the top of rack of the the dishwasher to clean/sterilize. I did use tap water -- our city water comes from wells and is treated, tested...

I wash Ellie's bottle by hand, stick them in the dishwasher and then boil after they come out of dishwasher. Probably a bit overkill, I know. With her nipples, I wash by hand and then boil. I let everything dry on drying rack.

I usually prepare her formula ahead of time because we have to add so much rice cereal to her bottle to thicken due to reflux so I use the blender. I pretty much prepare her bottles and stick them in the fridge...I hope that's ok, it says it's good refrigerated for 24 hrs. As far as what water I use, I always buy the bottled nursery water from the grocery store.

Oh, I'm feeling like a slacker! I just rinse them out and then dishwash. Luckily, Kate doesn't have any infections, but this has really made me think. I should be DONE with bottles but my 2 1/2 year old will only drink milk from a bottle... If anyone has a suggestion to get off of it I would welcome the ideas. Now with a new one at home two kids with bottles is a lot of equipment, and now I'm thinking I need to do more cleaning too!
