I have two brands I bought: one is GNC Herbal Plus Standardized Liquid Oil of Oregano, and I can inhale it. I've been using it for about a week and a half and do notice a difference in my coughing and lungs. I use 4 drops in distilled water in my neb. The other one I have which I cannot inhale because it made my lips and tough tingle something fierce is Aroma Oil of Oregano. I'm still trying to find the Oregano P-73 in a water soluable form.

Hi Joanne, I bought some in a shop called Nourish just off Grafton St. in Dublin it's on the same street as Tower Records. It's the P73 one thats mentioned and is made by North American Herb & Spice, I think it's the right one but it doesn't say if it's water soluble or not. I inhaled a bit of it but just in a bowl of boiling water with a towel over my head and it burns a little but not badly. I also put a drop under my tongue and that does burn but only for a minute. Haven't nebbed it but intend to try after I finish the home iv's. If you aren't near Dublin I can go and get some and post it to you if you like. Also I tried to order it on Amazon but they won't post it to Ireland.

I only advocate the use of the brand that i've always taken (the stuff from north american herb and spice) due to my results. Of course my results could have possibly happened with another brand, but i'm not changing anything to find out. If you are overseas, I recommend ordering over the net. There are a couple of UK based net stores that sell the stuff. Use google.

Just curious. Do these oils contain alcohol? IF so, isn't that really bad to inhale? I remember twenty years ago, I knew a few folks with CF who would inhale in their nebs white vinager as this kills pseudo. I tried it a few times and it make me cough up a lot of stuff. I do not remember why I stopped. Possibly caused constriction and i am sure there is a better way to use it. I am sure it could damage the lungs if it is not done correctly. Remember the lungs are very sensitive tissue so be careful. Diluting a solution is an art and if you have found what works for you then that is awesome

I've seen a few sources saying there is no alcohol in it:

http://www.hedleys.ca/PDF/Oregano%20Oil%20Product%20Sht.pdf

useage: http://www.hedleys.ca/PDF/Oregano%20oil%20usage%20guide.pdf

Their "Germ-a-cleanz" line of natural antiseptic sprays which contains oreganol P73 as it's primary ingredient is listed as not containing any alcohol or any other chemicals, so I doubt it would be present in their oregano oil itself. They don't use any chemicals in their extraction, they use steam distillation and cold pressing, so no need for alcohol: http://lifesvigor.com/prod/31215/index.htm
