Question for MichelleGazelle

Sorry to bring this thread back. I just wanted to mention that I am currently looking for a replacement for the carmex which doesn't contain petrolatum (petroleum oil). I happened to do some googling last night (long story) and it turns out that several infections that pwcf are at risk for are used by environmental scientists for bioremediation of petrochemical spills -- ie these germs eat petrochemicals. I've already made a lot of life changes that reduce my exposure to petrochemicals (like living without a car). I am going to continue to use carmex until I find an effective substitute but my goal here is to quit using it because it looks to me like petrochemicals in the system would likely promote some of these infections (such as candida, achromobacter and pseudomonas).

Thanking you for asking the question. This thread is part of why I was more aware of this detail when this other information happened to come up. Good luck with your problem.

Just an update:
This is the product I found to use in place of Carmex:
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/hands-feet-hand-moisturizers/hand-salve.html">Burt's Bees Hand Salve</a>

My sinuses are doing better with this than they did with Carmex. :)
