Awesome Becki!!!!!!!! Once you can run a 5K at that speed, see how long you can hold 5.5 mph, then go from there. I hope you're proud of yourself : )

awesome thread.... i just started running myself.

it was the most frustrating thing for me.....ever. genuinely.

but i'm able to run for a bit longer now, and it's one of the most victorious feelings I've ever felt. i've actually reached a place where my legs give out before my lungs - NEVER thought that would happen.

thank you all for this thread - it's SUPER encouraging.

I'm also doing couch to 5k program, but I have a problem.. Sorry to kinda take over but it's important and I've unsuccessfully tried to start a new topic 3 times. I think my computer is messed up.. Anyway I'm 17 my fev1 is 17% and I'm on 4lpm oxygen. My sats are 95-99 while sitting still but I can't even walk to the fridge and back to my room without sats dropping to low 70's and heartrate 140+ so obviously exercise is almost impossible. Is there anyway to help this? Thanks.

I've been running for years...I started walking and became BORED outta my MIND! That's why I started running - it was more exciting. The easiest way to start is walk, jog, walk, jog! Go so slow at first that it seems pointless to actually run...then start jogging a bit in-between the boredom of walking. For me, at first it's always about distance - speed is pointless to concentrate on. Have fun with it...use an mp3, ipod, etc and listen to your favorite music...enjoy yourself! Passion, anger and excitement are fuel to run !!! Play on that too! I've run all different places across the country (vacations, races-marathon, 1/2 marathon, 10miles, 10k's .....blah, blah, blah) - enjoy the scenery!!!! Have fun and feel great . Message me anytime!!!! Hugs!\

Duke1234 - have you brought this up to your doctors? Most hospitals have pulmonary rehab programs that are made for that specific purpose - helping you to find the exercise you can do, even when you have almost zero exercise tolerance.
