Hey I have a question I was looking at this page ( I was searching for portcaths) it said a message board that said Passports or Portcaths? What is a Passport? All it said was that it was in the arm.

Hi Tiffany, good to see you here! I had a Port a cath implanted about 2 months ago and I haven't regretted doing it...I was so sick of PICC lines, and the silly things kept getting contaminated despite excellent care...so it didn't take much convincing on the doc's part to put a port in me. I have a link here that shows what a portacath looks like...They do cause a bit of discomfort initially but that quickly gets better. The needle stick to access it I find is less painful than an IV insertion, just my opinion and I like the fact that labs can be drawn off of them as well. Here is that link, I know there is a wealth of info out there about portacaths, passports (yeah ,they are in your arm) and other varieties..I hope it helps...

Many hugs to you and good luck on your quest. Any other questions, just give a holler!!!
