Rain Rain Go AWAY - Mudfest 2007

Ugh! Rain forecast for the entire weekend. It's been raining off and on all day -- tomorrow they're predicting "only" a 60% chance of light rain with possible Thunderstorms. I ran to Target and bought a few rain panchos. Just got an email from another team leader from up north -- she bought 40 panchos for her team. So I'm thinking if we're prepared for rain -- it's not going to happen. I hope....<img src="">

On a happier note, I came back from lunch to find a check for $50 sitting on my desk from a local businessperson. Hurray!

Good luck, Liza! I hope it doesn't keep raining. I've been mentioning the walk there to several friends for the past couple of months and none of them are walking it. Nice. <sigh>

Let us know how it goes!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Good luck with the walk. Ours was last weekend and we had nice weather. I wish it would rain here in Florida and put out all of the fires. Too much smoke in the air. Makes it hard to breathe.

Rain cannot put a damper on your spirit. Just remember all of the $ dontated, all of the awesome people who donated, all the people on your team, etc.
The rain can't get you down. Just remember the BIG picture.
And without a little rain every once in a while, we'd never see a rainbow.
Good luck tomorrow!
Please let us know how things go.

I arrived at the park early to help out, to find that the brand new shelter, complete with new bathrooms and electricity was pretty much a shell, surrounded by MUD. Yep, still under construction even though the park person mentioned on Thursday to the CFF rep that things were good to go. The other shelter was booked for the day, though we should've taken it over 'cuz they didn't start arriving until noonish when we were finished. Oh well, next year the shelter SHOULD be complete.

Slogged in the mud pulling picnic tables into the shell-ter. Someone had painters plastic & duct tape -- I had a beach towel. And people gradually started arriving, as did the rain. Rain, rain. Lotsa rain. Most of us were prepared with rain ponchos; however, when we started heading south, the last 3rd of the route, our shoes very wet as did the bottom parts of our pants. Ugh! But it wasn't very cold, just wet. I stopped at the store on the way to our after party bbq for our team and bought dry sweatpants and wool socks. Ah!

Had hot pizza waiting for us -- raised $20,000 more total for the walk than we did last year $45,000 total for our walk. Only had two teams not show up, so maybe they'll be sending in more money. Couldn't believe the number of people who brought their small children, who got drenched and muddy. Poor kiddos were getting pretty cold and cranky toward the end.

Oh well, we had fun about 10 teams total showed up. Well over 150 walkers.

Wow, I'm so impressed by the dedication of all of you! Knowing how important this is, your team and all the walkers epitomized what the fight for a cure for CF is all about. Thank you and all who walked in the rain. In Kaylee's name--I thank you. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Good for you all who walked the walk in the rain!!! That's true spirit and dedication. I'm curious, Liza, whether there is a website or forum article or anything about the walk (maybe even with pics?!)? I'd like to email my buddies in that area who may be wondering how it went or what was raised, etc. You can IM me or just post if you know of anywhere I could link them to. Thanks!
