Reflux issues...

Ok so I have been having this reflux since yesterday. It wont go away (not that ive tried to take anything for it). I have been burping a lot and then feeling that burning in my throat. I also had very bad gas (sorry TMI), like stinky nastiness yesterday. I dont know what was causing that. My diet has not changed at all, and the only med that has changed was that I went back on the HTS starting Friday sometime. I was also on Zyvox for two weeks, and finished that up this past week (thurs), so I think that my digestion still needs to get back track, so to say, so its not really the gas that is in question. I just dont usually get reflux, so I am wondering what could be causing that...

My question I guess is do a lot of CF ppl have this problem (the reflux, gassy)? And how do you guys get rid of it if you do have this problem? Do you take OTC stuff or do doctors prescribe it to you? And is there a possibility that my throat is irritated from the HTS, making me taste acidness (if thats a word)?

Thanks for your help!

Yuck I hate reflux.... When mine is real bad I try to put the "fire" out by drinking milk..... I stay away from coffee, tea, and for some reason the acid in gatoraide causes severe reflux.

I also take two different PPI's Protonix and Prevacid..

Hope you feel better fast..

I used to have constant reflux and eventually started taking prevacid. Th reflux went away after about 1 year. I will still get it occasionally, but it's not a big problem for me anymore. I don't know about the HS causing reflux.

Ugh i hear ya! I woke up at 2am lastnight with TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE heartburn. I too drink milk and that works! Sometimes it depends on the food i eat. I know with me eating things with a tomotoe base(like pizza), or if i have pop or anything acidy i will get heartburn.

I take Nexium for mine, and I love it! It does sound like maybe your tummy isn't back to normal- have you tried a probiotic yogurt (like Activia)? That may help. Gas X also helps. Just FYI, my best friend (who doesn't have cf, just acid reflux that is usually under control with her OTC med ) had similar symptoms and turned out she had a really mild case of pancreatitis! She had to stick to clear liquids for 24 hours, and when she did that, the gas/bad heartburn got better. Check with your doc .

Thanks for all these responses guys! I appreciate the input. I do drink soda and coffee, but like I said my diet hasnt changed since Friday. Its not like I am drinking more or less of anything. Do you think that maybe the abx were causing the reflux? Like could that possibly be like an affer effect? Its never happened before. I am going to see if it goes away today...if not I may have to do something..we will see!

Thanks again!
