Rheumatology exam results

I went to a rheumatologist and he took lots of blood. Today, I met with him about the results. He told me my immune system was in overdrive and that he'd never seen numbers so high in the following:

Centromere
Sm
RNP/Sm
SSA (Ro)
SSB (La)
Scl-70

He wondered if my PA was causing this. He really didn't know what to make of the situation, as he doesn't know that much about CF. He's recommending a course of steroids for two weeks.

Anyone out there have any experience with rheumatology or a similar experience.

Help, please.

Hi, I've had those tests done, lots of aching joints funny rash and Raynaud's. I didn't have crazy results, but those tests are for autoimmune diseases like lupus and scleroderma. Basically you're immune system can't differentiate between your own tissues and attacks them, particularly collagen (joints, skin, etc..) but any organ can be affected too. I am not no doctor so I could be off with my explaination, I just have had the experience of going through those very tests when they suspected lupus with me. In the end, I was diagnosed with undifferentiated collagen vasc disease, was on steroids at one point but haven't been on anything for quite some time. What made you get these tests? I hope that the steroids work, hugs Jenn <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Jenn,

Thanks for the reply. I'd have to write a long, long message to tell the story of how I got to the rheumatologist. Haven't been feeling well for six months and it can't all be explained by the normal path cf takes. I've had a ton of blood taken and been to a lot of doctors.

I really appreciate your taking the time to reply. Steroids may be the answer, but I'm on a study and can't take them.

Best regards,

RD
