Riding in the same car...

Ok so I've seen cf ppl are not supposed to ride in car together unless they're siblings. Does the same go for same car diff time? I ask because sometimes this happens in my car. Just wondering about making each other sick.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

Oh "the bubble" question again....
Docs are going to tell you to avoid contact w/ other Cers b/c they want you to understand the possible risks of spreading bacteria (the kind cultured in our lungs). However, these bacteria are EVERYWHERE and can be just as eaisly transmitted by a "healthy" person. The problem w/ CF is that our lungs are such good hosts so an active infection is much eaiser to pass on. It's up to you as to wether or not to let your kids associate w/ other CFers, but I will tell you that the interaction with others was great for me. I didn't feel alone, I knew there were other kids, we were all just normal kids. I was able to meet others who were "sicker" than me, and some who were "healthier". It always halped me have a better understanding of CF.

On that note, I would avoid contact with others if one of your kids (or the other kids) is sick.

lol. thats funny. Last decmeber myself and three other people where in a car for maybe three hours. Three of which had cf. We then stopped halfway through our journey and meet up with two other cf's who where in the same car. We where going to a cf function. I say you could catch it from anyone.

I dunno I don't think I'd go in a car with 5other people who had cf-unless I knew there was nothing I could catch from them. People say oh you can catch psuedemonas anywhere-like from a vegetable. The truth is yes that is true but it is highly unlikely you'd catch it from a vegetable compared to been in a small space with loadsa cf-ers because the vegetable will not be coughing in your face!

This was not "a bubble?" at least not ment to be. Was just wanting to see if because they all have different cultured infections I was putting them at risk. They are all sick at different times. Family friend with cf rides in my car as well as my kids with cf.
