Rosie O'Donnell's nephew

Many people believe that Rosie O'Donnell's nephew with CF was the same child for whom the Joey Fund is named. Being from the Boston area, I've known of the Joey Fund and Mr. O'Donnell being its spokesman, but I've never heard of a connection between them and Rosie. So I looked into it:

Joey O'Donnell was from the Boston area. He passed away in 1986 at 12 years old. Shortly afterwards, his father, also named Joseph O'Donnell started the The Joey Fund. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.joeyfund.org/

Rosie doesn't have a brother named Joseph (hers are Eddie, Danny and Timmy).

On the recent episode of "The View" where Rosie had the young girl with CF on, she made reference to the fact that her nephew used to take his enzymes on a spoon with applesauce, but now he can't even stand applesauce. Sounds like he is still alive.

I haven't been able to find more on her nephew's age and health, but I'm pretty sure it is not the same kid.

I wondered about this too. I thought I had seen on a website that the Joey Fund WAS Joey her nephew, but she (in my opinion) clearly implied that her nephew is alive. "he won't eat applesause now..." or something to that affect.

If anyone finds out the answer...let us know!

Not a Rosie fan particularly, but I just watched the clip from The View thanks to Blake's post and I was truly touched. So good for them that he is still living. Say what you will about her but I bet she is a hoot to be around in person.

I do not have any information about Rosie's nephew but do know that Joey from the Joey Fund was a boy who died in the 80's, his father continues fundraising to this day and is the Highest grossing fundraiser in the world. This is what I was told anyway. He owns a managing company that manages the park where we do the walk every year and he also hosts an annual CF carnaval there as well. All I know is that they have a lot of money and raise a lot of money for CF. Hope that helps. I would love to get more info. on Rosie's nephew. I didn't realize until that clip that she had a nephew with Cf.
