Rude!!!

So my new insurance company wants a list of all doctors and meds I've seen/taken in the last 6 months so they know what is for pre-existing conditions (even though they have to cover it anyway...dumb). So I call the nurse who coordinates the CF CLinic I go to today to ask her to fax it to me. She was so rude to me! First off I start to tell her what I needed and she interupts with "Wait, I need your U numkber (hospital ID number)" I'm like, I was told you don't use that anymore. Her: "Who told you that? We do too use it." Me: "What about my social security number (always worked fine before). Her: No, how do you spell your last name? (then she proceeds to spell it perfectly). So she pulls me up I tell her what I need and she goes "You mean you can't tell them what meds you're on?" Me: "the daily ones I can but there have been a couple antibiotics that I just did a single course of." Her: "Oh, well what I am doing with this list anyway?" Her tone of voice thew whole time was only decribable as B*TCHY!!! If I could have reached through the phone and slapped her I would have.

insurance companies suck!!! i just got married and am now in the hospital so of course i had to switch companies..my husband called today and told me that we got a letter from the new company saying that i have already been inthe hosp for 2wk and they won't pay for the 3rd week because they didn't think it was medically necessary..hahah stupid people..their reasoning was that i didn't have a fever and i had normal saturaion and heart rate..i told my doc and he said that the cf dept would contact the insurance comp and explain that cfers need hospital stays even when they "don't have a fever"..it totally sucks that not only are you sick but then you have to stress about the insurance crap..good luck with yours..maybe your docs can talk to them..

Your case manager should have presented the information well enough to justify extensions of the hospital admit without going thru it after the fact. I had my insurance company ??? a sycatic (sp?) problem during my hospital stay once. I have EXCELLENT insurance, but this just goes to prove that they are all the same somehow. Anyway everytime I get admitted I end up having syactic (sp?) pain from all the coughing I do during trreatments, being extra congested etc. As with most cases that was listed as part of my dx for the admit. Usually it goes 1) CF exacerbation, 2)pneumonia, COPD, etc, 3)malnutrion/malabsorbtion & 4) Syactic (sp?). Just the fact that is usually 4 or 5 on the list of problems should tell them not to worry about it....LOL....guess it cant hurt for trying tho!

Yep its Lillian. I don't like her as much as I liked Gwen, but she retired. Lillian has a bad habbit of talking down to you, like you're 4 years old. Everyone else there is really cool. I really like Louie, the resperatory therapist. Brian was wondering where exactly you work in the clinic.

I work in primary care.....he can just ask for the new HM3 that checked onboard or you can email me at division902@hotmail.com and I can give you my last name.

I don't like her either. I want to reach through the phone and rip her head off. She is so rude. It took me 3 days and 15+ phone calls to schedule an appointment for Mark. First they needed this, and then that, and then this, and then that. I was screaming on the phone by the end of the third day. I frankly told her that NOTHING was this difficult when Gwen was there and that if they make patients jump through these kinds of hoops just to make a freaking appointment, they are going to quickly loose them.

Mark told me he wasn't going to go-screw them. I kindly reminded him that wasn't an option, he has a baby(s??) on the way. He said, "OK, fine" But asked me to call childrens first to see if they would take an adult patient.

He was seen at childrens from when he was diagnosed at 18mos, until about 19. He was then a patient at the UW for about 2 years before we moved to Pullman. He liked Gwen, but wasn't fond of the doctors at all. Childrens was curious as to why I was asking and I told them my husband was a patiend from the time he was a baby until 19, which was about 7 years ago. I told them he is very unhappy with the care he is currently recieving and desperately wants to come back to childrens. While the nurse there was happy to hear that and wished she could help, their policy is to move pt's to the adult clinic at about 19. I told her I understand, but maybe she can pass on that many patients are unhappy with their care (at least at the UW) or the treatment they get by some of the staff, and are hoping that someday childrens will open their doors up for adults. Even if they lack some of the things to deal with adult issues (like a soc. worker familiar with adult/CF concerns), it is better than dreading going to the doctor, having a lack of respect for the doctor and therefore NEVER following your doctors instructions (like Mark does when he is a pt at the UW). It's frustrating for us. She said she would pass that on, but not to hold my breath.

ok, enough of that.

I have found that nurses who are mean to one patient are usually like that with everyone. I have noticed that these people are not happy with themselves. If you are a happy person you are not going to abuse others. Feel sorry for these people but of course take action and report them to their boss

I wasn't overly fond of Gwen, I thought she was a little out of touch with our generation, but she was a million times better than Lillian. With Gwen if you had a problem it got handled without any BS. She was awesome when I had the flu a couple years ago. My brother doesn't really like Gwen either. Mark should ask for doctor Goss. He came over to the UW from Children's about a year ago I think. I like him a lot better than Tonelli. He has a proactive approach rather than wait and see. From his recomendations about 6 months ago I brought my PFTs up to the highest they've been in years.
