Saline/Nasal rinse with Pulmicort

I went back yesterday for the 6 month follow-up with my sinus surgeon and yet again...my sinuses are swollen pretty badly. He said "not enough swelling for surgery YET." He did say that the motrin would be a good solution, however, I dont really want to go back on that full time. I have been feeling so good everywhere else, my lungs, my digestion. It sucks that my sinuses suck at life, I have been getting bad headaches (which I never got before, because of the motrin) and they come on very quickly.

So the other thing he suggested is to try putting pulmicort in with the Neilmed Sinus rinse and to do that twice a day. The surgeon said he has been recommending it lately to his CFer's. Does anyone have any experience with it? Will I see a difference or will I notice side effects? My CF doc does not prescribe Pulmicort, I dont think I have ever been on it.

Caitlin.....let me first say that I am soooo sorry you are having to deal with sinus crap.....it sucks!! I am having some of the same problems. Surgery about 2 years ago and now a return of problems that is causing a headache. I hate hearing that I don't need surgery yet. No surgery YET....how bout NEVER! I am NOT sure how pulmicort would work that way; but, that kind of makes sense and I am going to ask my doc about it. Maybe that is why steroids work so well for me....it probably helps me clear out some sinus problems.

Caitlen,

My daughter is on Pulmicort Nebs. She is 6 and has been on them since she was 2 1/2 or so..She is using it for inflammation for her lungs but I use a pediatric mask for her nebs so I imagine some goes into her sinuses... Interesting concept about using it in a rinse; I haven't heard of that before.

Thank you guys for the response.

Unfortunately, I wont be able to get it for at least a few days. Rite- Aid says I need "prior approval" in order for insurance to cover it. I have never had that problem before...
