Salmonella/food poisoning

I had food poisoning twice ,one time worse than the other. The second time i had it, i had symptoms much like what you describe. My doctor told me to try to eat yogurt. He said the good bacteria would actually help my stomach to feel better. I did try that and it did help. Maybe you might want try that and see if it works for you. Fluids are definitely the most important thing you need right now or like you said, it will be back to the hospital. I hope you feel better soon

hey lindsey, something i just thought of. whether or not you end up going to the hospital, you should give the health department a call and tell them you suspect food poisoning from that restaurant. i know it's not what you want to do when you feel like crap, but it may help other people from getting sick, too.

My husband, when he was 18, ate a gyro at a fair stand and was fine until the evening of the next day. He woke in the middle of the night with tearing pain like someone had stabbed him inside. His parents took him to the er and he was dx'd with e.coli. For him it was serious b/c he doesn't have spleen, so he was in the hospital for weeks. But the hospital was obligated to report it, and they found 7 other cases of e. coli traced back to that same stand. EW!

I'm sorry you're going through this today. I don't have any wise words of advice, I just hope it's gotten better.
I agree about calling the health dept. I would also be curious to know if they've received calls from others that possibly got salmonella/food poisoning from IHOP?

Hey guys,

thanks for all the well wishes. I just now ate something about 30 minutes ago - Chicken Noodle Soup (I think it was magical Jenn ). I haven't been able to hold anything down - including liquids til about 5 pm or so. I am feeling much better now though.

I am still having some stomach cramping (but it is getting better and not happening as frequently thank goodness) and feel weak - I think that is mainly from the full body cramp type things I was getting earlier when I was throwing up - that and not eating all day. The worst about the cramping is that it is through my entire torso - not just my stomach but the lower portions of my lungs and back also. Thank goodness that is getting better. I am doing my meds early tonight, so I can hopefully go to bed soon. Even though I am not overly tired as I have been napping off and on today.

Well I mainly just wanted to update on how I was feeling for those interested. Thanks again guys.

Last year my daughter got an intestional bacterial infection. It has the same affects as what you are going thru except it had to be treated with antibiotics. The department of health contacted me since her doctor had to report it. Evidentally there were a few cases & they wanted to make sure it wasnt from a source that would hit more people. Glad you are better!

Good gracious! When it rains it pours! I'm so sorry you've got this to deal with too. I hope you took yourself to the ER and that you have someone loving to hold back your hair while you call Ralph on the big white phone.

Feel better, sweetie! You must be frustrated. Maybe it's all related to the sore throat? I'll be praying for answers for you soon soon soon!
