Does anyone know if there is any info out there anywhere about CF'ers having saltwater tanks? The only thing I can find on web is a ? in the ask expert section of their forum saying we shoudl not be the one doing the work on it and I dont anymore but I wonder if it is safe to have in house at all.

I've been looking all day to see if I could stumble upon this little tidbit I read, but so far can't find it. It was one of those times where one medical link took me to another, and so on....

I have a small aquarium (25 gal) at home myself - it is fun.

I'm still looking...

Ok, finally...
for the entire read:
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.medicinenet.com/mycobacterium_marinum/article.htm
">http://www.medicinenet.com/myc...m_marinum/article.htm
</a>
Partial read:
Human infections with M. marinum under normal circumstances are rare. However, people who have breaks in the skin such as cuts and scrapes are at increase risk:

-when in contact with water from an aquarium or fish tank
-when handling, cleaning, or processing fish, or
-while swimming or working in fresh or salt water.
One form of the infection, known as "swimming pool granuloma," can occur when there is inadequate chlorination of swimming pools.
However, in the US, most human infections with this bacteria have been associated with contact with fish tanks .

M. marinum infection is not spread from person to person.

best wishes
