Setting boundaries

I just want to reiterate that you might want to just ask if the kids are sick before setting up a get-together - as Terri said, sometimes kids have a runny nose and really are not sick - and a mom would be able to tell you the difference. Also, I can say, as a mom, that there are times I don't even think about my kid's snotty noses - they are acting fine and don't seem "sick" so I will take them out somewhere and then sort of realize thet hey - that green gunk doesn't look too good! So, your friends may not even be thinking about it when they set things up with you, and so I don't think a gentle reminder that you shouldn't be around sick kids is at all out of line.
