Severe bone demineralisation is associated with higher mortality in children with cystic fibrosis

Severe bone demineralisation is associated with higher mortality in children with cystic fibrosis

osteoporosis is widely accepted within the CF community, however as said earlier, it's considered a far far 2nd or 3rd to lung issues.

the problems are simple: CFer's don't absorb fat soluble vitamins very well, which includes vitamin D. Vit D is essential for calcium absorption.

there are other issues as well, but this is a strong culprit.
