I used to get pluersy alot before my tx. It felt like a really sharp pain and was only when i breathed and sometimes it was worse depending on the position I was in. My didn't last all the time, a few days at a time usually...the months leading up to my transplant though I had to take morphine for it and whenever I tried to ween myself off of it the pain would come back.

Here are all my pains :)

Pain one--exactly as you described. I have decided this is atelectasis in my lingula/left upper lobe for me. I often end up with an infection because the pain causes me to retain more mucus. Every position you describe causes me pain in the same way. I also sometimes get the pain just for a few minutes when I over-exercise.

I get a pleural rub without pain that feels like air escaping from a thick stew or a tapping. front of chest, below breasts.

I also get sharp and quick twisting pain in my ribs here and there that might be muscular...but suspiciously in the same location as the pleural tapping.

Finally, I have two spots in my upper back, between my shoulder blades and spine that signal an infection brewing in the corresponding lobe. If I am not careful, the pain wraps around that side of my body and boom, pneumonia. I've haven't heard of many people having this pain. So speak up if you do!
