Sinus infection or not???

I have CF and almost all of my main problems are in my sinuses. One thing I have learned with having CF related sinus problems, is I will always have sinus problems. I have tired everything from sinus rinses to surgery and my problems never really go away. I have worked with an ENT for about a year now to find the right combination of maintenance techniques to keep inflamation and infection down. Some things work, others dont. I posted a recent blog about my sinuses on the link below for more information on my expereince.

I know when my sinuses started to really give me trouble, I went through several different antibiotics and none of them helped. I think my pain was coming on more from inflamation rather than infection. Your situation may be similar.

If you are not seeing an ENT, tell your doctor you want to see one. If you are, start discussing a program that is right for you, like sinus rinses medications, and/or nasel sprays. I have even found putting medication in my sinus rinses helps with pressure and pain. There are a lot of options out there, don't give up.

Malora,
Hey there, I'm sorry that you are dealing w/ sinus crud-that is no fun! Have you ever been to a ear/nose/throat doc. That may be helpful in figuring out what is going on. I deal w/ chronic sinusitis as well as polyps. An ENT doc will be able to get a scope up in there and see if it is infection going on or something else.

Hi tleigh
i do have an ENT, i haven't seen him in a while though. But when i do see him he say my sinuses are clear and that i have no polyps. i did have a ct one time when i had a sinus infection and it did show some blockage and inflammation but it cleared up.
