Sinus Issues...

Just FYI:

Maybe most of you have heard of this product, but our son has been having repeated sinus issues (not infection, just stuffy and drainage and causing him to gag/cough at night). So we decided to get into the routine of flushing sinuses now while he is young. We have a larger size Neil Med sinus kit and just ordered the pediatric size (4oz with packets for that size). It is only $11.99 and is at most drug stores.

He hates it but we just started doing it in the bath. Get this...we told him that quarters sometimes come out of your nose if you wash them out good enough. Last night he finally bought it and quarters magically appeared in the tub! Today he wanted to take a bath twice! Don't know how long he will buy this one...you know toddlers!

Anyway...if anyone else has some tips for getting this to be a habit and what you noticed after doing it more regularly, I'd like to hear.

www.neilmed.com to order or for a list of drug stores that carry it. I had trouble finding the pediatric locally.

Jody- We started doing the NeilMed sinus rinses when Aidan was about 16 months old after his first sinus surgery. It was HORRIBLE in the beginning. I had to pin him down, he would cry, gag, throw up. I woke up in the morning dreading it! I knew it had to be done though because his sinuses are a mess.

He is now three and we do them every night, also in the bath/shower. He does them GREAT now. We now use the adult size because the bottle seems to work better and gets more stuff out. Our ENT said that was fine. I think Aidan doesn't mind them now because he knows they make him feel better. It takes getting used to but it gets easier. I kinda distract him with a bath toy and then start squeezing it up, he'll do it on himself now as well. Best of luck. Dr Warwick also told me that the VEST should help the sinuses as well.

Megan, mom to Aidan 3 W/CF and Gavin 6 months, no CF
