Sinus Question

So I had sinus surgery December 16th and a week later a follow up in the office to clean out the remnants. It is now almost 2 weeks later and I still have a "stuffy" nose. I was wondering how long it will be before I really have a clear nose and can actually smell and taste again. I am doing sinus rinses 2x daily and occasionally a 3rd if I feel more congested. I am hoping that the surgery was not for nothing as I really hoped this would help not only my sinuses but the post nasal drip which is what usually leads to my infections.

The stuffy nose will be around for awhile. Sorry to say! I have had 2 sinus surgeries and with both i think it took about 5-6 weeks to notice a real difference. It takes time for the nose to heal, but hang in there!

It was about 5 weeks before I finally "sniffed" out the last of the packing junk. I had a horrible smell in my nose for awhile before it came out, but once it did I felt immediate relief. Keep using the sinus rinses and be sure to use warm water. You'll be feeling great soon. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> By the way, my surgery was in late October and I am feeling WONDERFUL after it!

I have had multiple sinus surgeries. I always feel a huge improvement once they remove the packing, just a few days post. Each time tho, my sinuses have been totally blocked with polyps prior. My surgeon used to say after surgery that my sinuses were like the "Callahan tunnel" (Boston guy). I lost my sense of smell permanently a couple surgeries ago. I'm not sure if this was due to severe sinus infections or to the surgery.
