Sinuses vs. Allergies

My 2 yr old daughter had a allergy test done by blood to where they test for the most common allergies. Indoor/Outdoor molds, pollen, dust, etc. Well the test came back negative with no know allergies. My questions is do CF people get sinuses infections because the mucous is thick and when outside in hot weather or rainy days this can cause allergy related symptoms? She is on Zyrtec (a little over a year now) but does not seem to really help. It maybe helping but I'm the type if you are taking a medicine I expected it to work somewhat (yeah right). Does have mild asthma but nerve had an episode on singular (at bedtime) and pulmicort (2x's day) for that. I know I'm going on but want to know is there anyone with small children this age that have allergy type symptoms if so, what do you do? Are they on Zyrtec and does it work? Just curious to what other methods are taken by other physicians to patients w/CF. Do use a salt-water clean out when nose is running clear and nasonex every other day which seems to help from going into a serious infection. Also on Nasonex (used every other day to give her nose a break) and seems to work sometimes but also seems to start her runny nose and drainage problems. Use to be on Rhinocort and that did not work. Any anwsers on that one would help? I know I will probably get slack on this but another thing I notice is if I leave my daughter alone and do CPT's enough through out the week she does so much better. Soon as I buckle down and use the Nasonex and heavy CPT's it seems to make her problem worse. Don't get me wrong I do try to do CPT's on her every night (have a hand held wand) but sometimes do not get to use and when we are playing I will play a game and take both hands patting her on her chest, back and other areas needed at the same time. One other thing is it when I really buckle down do I stir things up to run to her nose???? By the way Chest LOOKS GREAT . Thanks for listening.Sorry for going on, just sometimes need more answer's from other's experiencing the same things than what a doctor gives you.Mother of a wonderful daughter w/CF

My daughter had the same problem at that age. She is almost 4 now and doing better. We tried Nasonex but there was something over the counter which works better. I won't mention what it is because .everytime I do my message gets deleted.. You need to be careful as well because her sinus infections turned into ear infections and that is not pleasant.I can tell you that I went to see a naturopath and she gave me a huge list of things she should not be eating. Our cf team said to try one thing at a time only and see if there was any change. We took her off of pork and it helped the ears, and sinuses. The team thinks it is a coincidence but we feel that there is a connection (food allergy). Also try to play games with her when blowing her nose. We used to say "blow so loud that grandma hears you" and then we would call her and she would say she heard it. Once they start blowing their nose themselves it makes a big difference.

I don't have any allergies except to parrots [I'd dead serious ], thank God. I do get sinus infections every once in a while, but they're not severe. I use Nasonex and well, plenty of painkillers, because I cannot function with sinus pain. I'm 21 though and didn't start having sinus problems until I was 16, so I dont know much about how it is with kids...
