Sleeping it can be hard.

Hi John,

I think you are right , with all the worries/stress that comes w/ CF it's no wonder many of us have problems sleeping..

I go in spurts.. My sleeplessness usually starts w/ an admission.. I then start using Ambien & then take it for several months after that.. This last time i was taking it i had a sleepwalking (really running) incident in the middle of the night .. I fell !!! Fractured my kneecap <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0"> So i stopped taking it lol..

I wonder if instead of a sleeping aid maybe an anti anxiety med may be useful for you ??? Oh well sorry not much help here.. I hope you find a solution ..

I take co-q-10 when I first get up. It helps the brain wake up and then encourages the body to produce a little extra melatonin about 12 hours later. When I had worse sleep issues, I took co-q-10 in the morning and melatonin about 30 minutes before bedtime.

Melatonin worked like a dream for keeping me asleep. I'm such a light sleeper that I am aware of the passage of time throughout the night and wake up many many times. I usually take at least an hour to fall asleep but the Melatonin helped with the nightly wake ups as well.

That being said, Melatonin did not help me with my first initial falling to sleep. Ambien worked for that and I never felt drowsy the next day like other over-the-counter sleep aids can do.

So, maybe try Ambien for a week or two and then switch Melatonin? Any vitamin section in grocery stores will usually have it. I took 2 each night.
