So I'm just wondering if I'm the only weird one out there For the longest time I used two pillows, but then when I started having bad hemoptysis I went all the way to six sometimes!!!! Anyways, so do others sleep flat or inclined?

I sleep on two - I have for years. I am still sleeping more flat that upright, but the more congested I am, the more upright I sleep.

I sleep on two pillows with one on my side so that I have support for my chest when I roll over. Its almost like a "cuddle" pillow because its one of those body pillows. When I'm having hemoptysis, I use three pillows. My guy likes to tease me about how its like sleeping with three people in the bed because my pillows take up so much room.

I have my two & one of hubbys which he doesnt use when I am well. If I am sick I use the other one of his since he doesnt use any. I space them so they are in the shape of a wedge almost because otherwise I get stiff necks etc. I prefer to sleep on my belly tho the chiropractor cringes at that idea. Otherwise I am on my left side. If I am tired enough I can fall asleep sitting up which has happened with hemoptysis. I have even slept in my hubbys reclinr during hemoptysis because it elevates me properly, but allows me to sleep!

I used to use two, but switched to one when my neck got achey.... Seems I don't wake up with as many headaches with just one. Maybe has something to do with spine alignment?

I'm weird. I sleep on two, but I always have to hug one more at the same time. I even bring extra pillows to the hospital when I have to go in.

I have two ways of sleeping and neither includes laying flat. I stopped laying flat completely almost 4 years ago after my embolizations. I either sleep propped up on pillows almost in a sitting position with my feet on a foot stool.... or i use my wedge pillow (i ordered from some catalog) and prop about 4 more pillows on it so i am not laying anywhere near flat. I cannot lay flat or on my left side due to hemoptysis problems. It wasnt easy getting used to this routine since i was always a "sprawled out, twisting turning" type of sleeper, but after i had my embolizations i absolutely cannot lay flat unless i want a certain bleed. I never thought i would one day have the"priveledge" of sleeping flat and carefree taken away.

I sleep with one regular pillow. I have a squishy pillow that I've used for "cuddling" since I had my gallbadder surgery (it helped with bracing while coughing, without the pressure hurting as much). I now use it to help with my chest while laying on my side. If I am congested I use my regular pillow and my wedge (its a large wedge shaped pillow, I use it mostly for drainage with manual CPT but its great to lean up against for support).

I sleep with two only if I am sick...that is the only way I can keep myself from coughing all night. Otherwise I sleep with one pillow and I prefer it to be a flatter pillow.

Is six too many? I use 5 to prop myself up, and one between my knees. So comfy. The propping up is to avoid reflux, which is not good to have after transplant.

Just one for me! I have to sleep on my stomach. When I got really sick with a hurt rib and being pregnant I would sleep in a recliner chair to help prop me up. Lets just say I dind't do much sleeping. OH it was uncomfotable. The day that my C-section healed enough for me to sleep on my stomach was a great day.

Pre tx my folks went out and bought me an electric bed similar to that of the hospital beds, I was finding that in order for me to sleep it was much easier to do so on a chair, no amount of pillows could elevate me enough so I could breathe...

I am in the process of retraining myself to sleep on two pillows, I think from all the years of sleeping pretty much upright its more habitual then necessity...

I also have chronic GERD and don't want to risk apirating stomach contents into my new lungs...

I use two when I fall asleep to TV, but when I don't, or wake up in the middle of the night I'll goto just one. My nech starts to hurt after too long.
