OMG, I am so angry right now I am seeing red!!! Yesterday we (me, my husband and daughter) were at my in-laws house just visiting. When we got there a few other family members were there. My husbands Uncle and his girlfriend were there visiting. Now, his girlfriend is an ex-prostitute <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">. They have never met Alayna because they are into bad things. Well, yesterday she was playing with Alayna and was touching her and kissed her on the cheek. Now, yesterday I was fine with it whatever. But today I found out she is HIV positive. OMG, I flipped out and yelled and screamed and called my mother in-law and just went nuts on her. I know how HIV is can be contracted. I was just so upset that nobody told us this. Anything could've happened my daughter is 2 she could've fell and had an opened wound anything!!! It's my husbands mom so he called her after I yelled at her and yelled at her some more because come to find out we were the only ones who didn't know.

Do I have a right to be ANGRY or am I just being over paranoid????? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">

I think I had a right to know!!!!!!

I wouldn't be so concerned about the risk of contracting HIV, as what germs she might be carrying depending on her status in her disease. I have a relative with (now) AIDS, and I fortunately (from a health standpoint <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) don't see him much at all. (Nor does he need to see me). I think you are right to be mad, personally. Granted, they probably didn't think about it being a problem, but to me, it would be just like no one telling me she was an adult cf. Especially since it wasn't a secret!

I think you are right to be mad, personally. Granted, they probably didn't think about it being a problem, but to me, it would be just like no one telling me she was an adult cf. Especially since it wasn't a secret!

Your job is to protect your daughter, so that means keeping her away from anything that could compromise her health. Perhaps you reacted a little more strongly than the situation deserved, but I'm of the opinion that a mom should be fierce when it comes to protecting her kid from bad elements. I think you have a right to be upset. You might catch some flak from the in-laws, but if they give you grief, just say your daughter's health comes first and that means no contact with people who might have a cold, let alone HIV.

I am sorry you are feeling angry. I would not stay angry too long as it will run you down and anger can weaken your immunity and G-d only knows if you catch a cold,,,, you know what I mean.

Just do not go there anymore unless you know who will be there. I would tell your MIL off in a nice way and ask her for an EXPLANATION.

Some people are just so Clueless.
