Hi and welcome. My son was a late dx too. He was 15 years old. We are seeing more and more adult dx of CF, as you can see by the responses here. This is a great place to get support and educate yourself on the disease. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi and welcome to the site (we spoke last night in chat)

I was dxd at 44 y/o (my sister was 50 when we got dxd) i am now 56 ..

My story is on the Diagnosis section if you care to look, and many other stories are there.

It is frightening, but please know that you are not alone.. You will find a lot of info and support here...

If you want to talk PM me.. Take care and God Bless ~ joni

Hi there,

I was diagnosed last year at age 36. It's quite a shock and it takes time to work through all the emotions that go along with a CF diagnosis this late in life. The good news is you will likely feel much better with treatment, especially after a few months. Once the mucus is cleared out of your lungs a bit you may not cough quite as often. I used to cough for 1-2 hours every morning before treatment and now I only cough sporadically throughout the day. It's quite nice to feel clearer and breathing feels lighter.

37 w/CF, mom to Amelia 10 months no CF
